Wednesday, October 29, 2003 Well, I didn't just wander off and get lost... Just got caught up in putting the finishing (sic) touches on a longer work in progess. All about THIQ (tetrahydroisoquinoline) and how it's implicated in alcoholism. Simplifying and condensing medical, nutritional and anatomical data is more of a challenge than I remember it being when I was in grad school ~! And I wasn't as SOBER then as I am NOW (going on 22 years this january). Oh well. I'll be back to ranting soon -- am sure bushie will do or SAY something to set me off ~!
posted by ladywolfsong, 19:38 | link | comments Thursday, October 23, 2003 How to spend $33 mil... Last nite's nooze noted your guv mint has funded a $33,000,000 ad campaign, touting the roll out of a "new look" for $20 bills -- so we'd all "know how to spend them". Give me a break, already ~! If someone doesn't know how to spend a 20-spot, it required a brain transplant, NOT a TV ad ~! In addition, they want to give a headzup to counterfitters -- that their job just got harder -- we lose an estimated $45 mil to these guys, already, to it seems to me we're now $78 mil short ~! To my way of thinking, a better way to waste this $33 mil would be to throw it at 24/7 caregivers who devote their time to a disabled family member. This would fund l37 of us for a good 20 years, EACH. Just "chump change" for the federales but a godsend to single parents such as myself.

In an article today, from http://www.alternet.org, there's an excellent essay by Tom Hayden about how a GLOBAL movement is happening -- progressive opinions fomenting and combining to counter the 'dis-sing' of the "entitled elite". Alternet has a great e-newsletter with summaries of breaking nooze you won't see on the nets. Highly recommended for all thinking peasants. Get your pitchforks ready ~! Then, there's late breaking eco-news at http://www.tompaine.com/op_ads/opad2.cfm/ID/9199 detailing Bushie's derailing of decades of legislation to protect OUR environment -- article from NY Times op ed, "If it ain't broke, break it" -- the plan for environmental regs -- GET RID OF THEM ~! There is much good, common sense at tompaine.com and updates delivered to your email box. I guess Bushie is so insulated inside his bubble that the rarified air HE breathes is affecting his three brain cells -- too much oxygen (ozone) will create a 'high'. And YES, Virginia, i AM a rabid eco-freak ~! I happen to LIKE clean air, blue skies (not "hazed-up" by chemtrails) and since my favorite drink IS unadulturated H2O, I like THAT pure, as well, straight outta the tap or in the creekbed ~! posted by ladywolfsong, 08:52 | link | comments Friday, October 17, 2003 aaaaaaah, the mysteries of html and javascript and ALL THAT STUFF ~! bloggin is certainly more 'fun' -- faster at least -- than building websites w/ FP '98, but i still have much to learn -- had to change template for this as prior pink one was too hard on the old eyes ~! prettier, but harder at 4 am on the vision. i've long said i need to RENT or lease a l6 yo boy 'puter nerd for tutoring -- him teaching me, not vice versa ~! posted by ladywolfsong, 07:24 | link | comments <script language=JavaScript src="http://www.bloglinker.com/query.php?id=3062"></script>target=_new> posted by ladywolfsong, 07:15 | link | comments (1) GOD'S PRESIDENT????? i think NOT ~!!!! last nite on cbs nooze, there was a clip about some star'd general, born again christian, lauding W. as hand-picked by god along w/ a rant that his god was bigger and better than the god of his enemies. i almost gagged ~! now i'm NOT a 'good christian' -- nor a bad one, either. not one period. i'd NEVER expect anyone else to 'die' for my sins, or even take a fall for the error of my ways, which i try to keep to a minimum. if god "so loved me", he didn't need to crucify his son to prove it -- i'd settle for a newer vehicle and adequate compensation for being a 24/7 caregiver to a disabled adult (more than the $580.00 a month we live on in her disability check) growing up in a fundamentalist home, i never 'got' the part about virgin birth, let alone all the guilt trips christians seemed to feel they needed in order to 'sell' conviction and coversion. seems the radical christian right helped put georgie IN the white house -- maybe they'll make enough blunders, as outlined below, to OUST him before he totall wrecks the country from http://www.observer.com/pages/story.asp?ID=5333 "In any case, not all branches of the federal government have awakened yet to the new dispensation. On the same day that Mr. Bush made his "dead body" (telling guv S. in calif. that he'd repeal tax cuts for the rich over his dead body) remark, a report issued by the Congressional Budget Office disparaged his tax cuts as useless for reviving the economy. According to the C.B.O. analysis, better results would ensue from more progressive cuts in payroll and sales taxes" posted by ladywolfsong, 06:30 | link | comments (1) Wednesday, October 15, 2003 This just in and worth adding. My masters degree is in environmental health sciences, and as a "moderately conservative" human being, i just HAPPEN to think having clean air to breathe and clear waters tricklin' in the creeks (as opposed to trying to gag on gray smog and wading in open sewers) is a dandy idear for MY (and YOUR) great grandchildren, et al ~!
*** NEW IN THE SPOTLIGHT: EPA'S SMOKE SCREEN *** posted by ladywolfsong, 12:39 | link | comments imho, some younger, stronger word-smith could make $$$ and achieve great fame by writing a play -- a modern day 'morality play' based in L. Carroll's Alice in Wunderland, combined with elements of The Wizard of Oz. Tom Ridge and Carl Rove = Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the invisible power behind the throne, aka VP "Dick" Cheney = the little man behind the curtain, Dubyah Bush = all three, the cowardly lion (who dresses up like an aeroplane pilot for publicity), the heartless tin man (after all, this "compassionate" conservative ISN'T either), and he has elements of the scarecrow -- all hat and no cows. It really IRKS me that bubba Bush wants to squander $87 BIL on his ill-begotten tiff in Iraq while some 54 MILLION disabled people in this country have to WAIT on "lists" for services ~! I'm part Native American, Choctaw, and the first "rule" of our culture was to "take care of your own, FIRST" -- the elders, the weak, the young and the handicapped. This ethic runs counter to the beliefs of those in "control" (NOT the same thing as being empowered) -- their mantra is screw everyone you can at every opportunity for all the money you can grab ~!
posted by ladywolfsong, 09:34 | link | comments Tuesday, October 14, 2003 hey ~! and welcome to my first post on this blog. this past weekend i listened to molly ivin's book-on-tape (or on CD) in this case, "Bushwhacked" and it is GREAT ~! i highly recommend it to anyone, left, liberal, or conservative -- in fact, i don't think there's much difference between these groups -- after all, the con's are opposed to 'federal spending' but heck fuzze, bubba is spending our children's and GREAT grandchildren's futures with more fervor than ANY wild-eyed 'liberal' ever dreamed ~! much more on this, and the numbers to back it up, manana ~! posted by ladywolfsong, 21:27 | link | comments (2) |
