You don't have to be...  a Texan to appreciate this, but it would help.  Here's a good 'un to start your monday off on a joyful note:

Texas "Survivor"

Due to the popularity of the Survivor shows, Texas is planning to
do one entitled, "Survivor: Texas Style."

The contestants will all  start in Dallas, then drive to Waco,
Austin, San Antonio, over to  Houston and down to Brownsville. They will
then proceed up to Del Rio, El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock and Amarillo.  From there
they will go to Abilene, Fort Worth and finally back to Dallas.

Each will be driving a pink Volvo with bumper Stickers  that
read: " I love the Dixie Chicks, Boycott Beef, Drink French Wine, I voted
for Kerry in '04 , will vote Hillary in 2008, and I'm here to confiscate your guns."

The first one who makes it back to Dallas alive (if any do),
WINS.......
Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they
don't want to impress people they don't like

Too long to post but too important NOT to post ~!   We all heard how bushie was subject of alleged attack of the bodily harm nature on his recent trip South -- nothing was said about the following, though ~!   Either we have selective, i.e. controlled news coverage, or someone below has a vivid imagination ~!  You sort:

Momentum builds for January 20, 2005
Counter-Inaugural Demonstration
in Washington, DC

A war criminal will be inaugurated
on January 20 and the people will protest

George W. Bush arranged for his being granted "diplomatic immunity" by Chilean president Lagos as a precondition for Bush's trip to Chile for the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference.

Dear VoteNoWar member,

Learning a lesson from the trials and tribulations of the dictator
Augusto Pinochet, who was indicted for crimes against humanity
when he traveled outside of Chile, George W. Bush arranged for
his being granted "diplomatic immunity" by Chilean president
Lagos as a precondition for Bush's trip to Chile for the
Asia-Pacific Economic Conference.

The Los Angeles Times of Nov. 18 reports, "President Richard Lagos's government took the unusual step yesterday of announcing that Bush would have diplomatic immunity during his visit. The declaration was made after some activists filed a criminal complaint against Bush in court, claiming that he and other U.S. officials were guilty of war crimes in Iraq."

"Quote: We have grasped the mystery of the atom and
rejected the sermon on the mount. Ours is a world of nuclear
giants and ethical infants. We know more about killing than
we do about living."
            ~~~~~WW II General Omar Bradley (1893-1981)
"Diplomatic immunity" didn't stop thousands of people taking to the streets in Chile in massive demonstrations against Bush. All around the world people are in the streets protesting the criminal conduct of
the Bush administration. January 20 will be another big step in building this movement.
Quote:"It is the duty of the patriot to protect his country from
thegovernment."
~Thomas Paine "The Right of Man"  -
Circa 1792
4,000+ endorsers for the counter-inaugural protest as of November 22, 2004
Over 4,000 have already endorsed A.N.S.W.E.R.'s and VoteNoWar's call for a mass demonstration on January 20, 2005, at the site of the Bush inauguration. This is a legally permitted demonstration. The
Bush administration, fully exposed for its destruction of Fallujah and fearing the embarrassment of a mass demonstration at the Inaugural route, is now following the usual script to intimidate the people: publicly announcing that there is an unprecedented security threat on January 20 and that the government is mobilizing 4,000 army combat soldiers to be in the streets of DC that today.There has never been a more important time for the people of the United States to take a clear and powerful stand.
Quote:"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."~~~Edmund Burke
The events of the past two weeks again unmasked the criminal nature of the administration. The government asserts that more than 1,200 "insurgents" have been killed in the last week alone. How many are really civilians? Donald Rumsfeld insists at his press conferences
that civilians in Fallujah had only themselves to blame for not fleeing their homes but the truth is that Bush and Rumsfeld blocked people from leaving.
Please read the following quote three times!!!
Quote: "The news and truth are not the same thing."
~~~~~Walter Lippmann, American Journalist (1889-1974)

According to Robert Reid's AP dispatch of November 12, "Troops have cut off all roads and bridges leading out of Fallujah and have turned back hundreds of men trying to flee the city during the assault. Only women, children and the elderly can leave. The military says keeping men aged 15 to 55 from leaving is key to the mission's success. " Family after family had to decide whether they would all return together to the city or to separate from the boys and their
fathers.

Quote: "Never do anything against conscience, even if the
State demands it."
  ~~~~~~Albert Einstein
The International Red Cross estimates that more than 800 civilians were killed in Fallujah in just one horrifying week. That is likely to be a conservative estimate. But just imagine 800 civilians - in just one week in one city of 250,000. The U.S. military strategy and its rules of engagement in Fallujah constitute a crime against humanity and war crimes as recognized by the Nuremberg Trial and the Geneva Convention. Targeting hospitals, clinics and ambulances, the U.S. forces tried to destroy everything. A report collated by the UN
testifies to the U.S. air strike on one clinic where 20 doctors were killed.The western part of Fallujah was declared a "weapons free zone" - meaning that U.S. troops could fire at anything that moved in that area.
Quote:"Individuals have international duties which transcend
the national obligations of obedience. Therefore (individual
citizens) have the duty to prevent crimes against peace and humanity from occuring."
~~~~~~Nuremberg War Crimes Tribunal, 1950

War at Home - War Abroad

While Bush and Congress are spending nearly $300 million each
day to kill poor people in Iraq, working class and poor communities
are taking a beating at home. Last week the press announced that Detroit was laying off 4,000 teachers and other school workers and closing as many as 40 schools because of a deficit of $198 million. That amount equals less than what is spent every 16 hours for the occupation and war in Iraq. Of course, Halliburton and the other corporate and banking entities don't make super-profits from
public education in Detroit.

Quote:"A nation that continues year after year to spend
more money on military defense than on programs of
social uplift is approaching spiritual death."

~~~~~Martin Luther King, Jr.
We cannot pause for a moment in building a mass movement opposed to war at home and in support of social, civil and workers rights at home. People are coming together once again.
Quote:"One should respect public opinion insofar as is necessary to avoid starvation and keep out of prison, but anything that goes beyond this is voluntary submission
to an unnecessary tyranny."
~~~Bertrand Russell

Help support the January 20 Counter InauguralDemonstration

On January 20, 2005, thousands will be lining the inaugural route
in mass protest. There will be simultaneous protests in San
Francisco, Los Angeles and other cities on January 20.

Quote:"Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of 'crackpot' than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost."
~~~Thomas J. Watson (1874-1956)
At an international conference in solidarity with the people of Cuba
held in Luxembourg last weekend, a resolution was adopted calling
for coordinated demonstrations to take place on January 20, 2005 throughout Europe.
Our demonstrations will be a powerful statement in solidarity with
all those who are under attack by the Bush administration - from
Cuba to Palestine to Haiti to the Philippines to Iran  and elsewhere.
Pledge now to support the January 20 demonstration against the war.
I would like you to know
that we were not all like that
that some of us spent our lives
working for peace,
please understand
that we were not all like that.
Well, THIS...  outta get the fundie prot's bloomers ALL KNOTTED UP ~!   If they think stem cell research and abortion are anathema, just wait til this info gets "outted" for real.  YOU of course, read it here first.
This message is available on the Internet at http://www.WantToKnow.info/humananimalhybrids
Dear friends,
The front page of the Washington Post on the 20th had the below, incredibly revealing story. Scientists are experiment with creating human/animal hybrids called "chimeras" without federal guidelines. And remember that military and intelligence services are generally at least 10 years in advance of any research being done in public. With proper rules and guidelines in place, science gives us many wonderful technological advances. But without these guidelines, we are treading in very dangerous territory. When profit and greed are the main drivers behind science, who do you think will benefit? Please help to spread the word and call for responsible scientific exploration based on what is best for all people and all species. Thanks for caring and have a good day.
With best wishes,
Of Mice, Men and In-Between
Scientists Debate Blending Of Human, Animal Forms
By Rick Weiss
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, November 20, 2004; Page A01
In Minnesota, pigs are being born with human blood in their veins.
In Nevada, there are sheep whose livers and hearts are largely human.
In California, mice peer from their cages with human brain cells firing inside their skulls.
These are not outcasts from "The Island of Dr. Moreau," the 1896 novel by H.G. Wells in which a rogue doctor develops creatures that are part animal and part human. They are real creations of real scientists, stretching the boundaries of stem cell research.
Biologists call these hybrid animals chimeras, after the mythical Greek creature with a lion's head, a goat's body and a serpent's tail. They are the products of experiments in which human stem cells were added to developing animal fetuses.
Chimeras are allowing scientists to watch, for the first time, how nascent human cells and organs mature and interact -- not in the cold isolation of laboratory dishes but inside the bodies of living creatures. Some are already revealing deep secrets of human biology and pointing the way toward new medical treatments.
But with no federal guidelines in place, an awkward question hovers above the work: How human must a chimera be before more stringent research rules should kick in?
The National Academy of Sciences, which advises the federal government, has been studying the issue and hopes to make recommendations by February. Yet the range of opinions it has received so far suggests that reaching consensus may be difficult.
During one recent meeting, scientists disagreed on such basic issues as whether it would be unethical for a human embryo to begin its development in an animal's womb, and whether a mouse would be better or worse off with a brain made of human neurons.
"This is an area where we really need to come to a reasonable consensus," said James Battey, chairman of the National Institutes of Health's Stem Cell Task Force. "We need to establish some kind of guidelines as to what the scientific community ought to do and ought not to do."
Beyond Twins and Moms
Chimeras (ki-MER-ahs) -- meaning mixtures of two or more individuals in a single body -- are not inherently unnatural. Most twins carry at least a few cells from the sibling with whom they shared a womb, and most mothers carry in their blood at least a few cells from each child they have born.
Recipients of organ transplants are also chimeras, as are the many people whose defective heart valves have been replaced with those from pigs or cows. And scientists for years have added human genes to bacteria and even to farm animals -- feats of genetic engineering that allow those critters to make human proteins such as insulin for use as medicines.
"Chimeras are not as strange and alien as at first blush they seem," said Henry Greely, a law professor and ethicist at Stanford University who has reviewed proposals to create human-mouse chimeras there.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING, YA'LL ~!
Tim Allen, comedian, had this to say about Martha Stewart:
"Boy, I feel safer now that she's behind bars. O.J & Kobe are walking
around, Scott Petersion's going to be soon, but they take the one woman in
America willing to cook and clean and work in the yard and haul her ass to
jail.
Somethin' else to think about...
Declaration of Cosmic Cooperation
Because of the course of events on Earth, it has become necessary for we humans to declare our desire to join with peaceful civilizations throughout the Universe to save Earth and ourselves from our own excessive self-interest. We desire to use our creativity to assure that all living things on Earth are free to enjoy the resources and beauty of Creation now and throughout future generations.
We hold these truths to be sacred and undeniable; that all are created with the right to enjoy the Universe and receive sustenance; all are endowed with certain inalienable rights, among these are Life, Liberty, and the realization of Happiness; that to secure these rights we recognize that the denial of the rights of any living thing affects the rights of all beings in the Universe.
Civilizations are legitimized by their ability to promote these rights for all life now and in the future. They should exist for the purpose of recognizing and serving the unity of life. To the extent that they promote primarily their own identity, they inhibit the recognition and implementation of this unity. Extreme identification with any part of the whole Cosmos, be it a particular region of the Cosmos, a planet, nation, religion, race, institution, or species is detrimental to individual and collective peace throughout the Universe.
We humans have changed life on Earth. We have converted valuable resources into waste products. We have threatened the very existence of life on Earth with our weapons of mass destruction, mass pollution, and mass poverty. We have allowed our strong desire for independence to interfere with our innate and natural qualities of goodness, love, and sharing. We have been lured into the belief that our individual lives are more important than the lives of others, wherever they reside.
We humans now choose to change our approach to all of life to be that of service-to-others, rather than service-to-self. We vow to eliminate our over-identification with our particular individual lives and with our planet. We vow to create a new sense of cooperation that values the life force within everything. We pledge our lives to co-creating a Universe where all beings can more easily remember their natural freedom, unity, and goodness. We pledge that we, the people of Earth, shall strive to become peaceful and productive members of the Universal community of beings.
Negotiators Add Abortion Clause to Spending Bill
Negotiators Add Abortion Clause to Spending Bill
By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG and CARL HULSE
ASHINGTON, Saturday, Nov. 20 - House and Senate negotiators have tucked a
potentially far-reaching anti-abortion provision into a $388 billion
must-pass spending bill, complicating plans for Congress to wrap up its
business and adjourn for the year.
The provision may be an early indication of the growing political muscle of
social conservatives who provided crucial support for Republican candidates,
including President Bush, in the election.
House officials said Saturday morning that the final details of the spending
measure were worked out before midnight and that the bill was filed for the
House vote on Saturday.
The abortion language would bar federal, state and local agencies from
withholding taxpayer money from health care providers that refuse to provide
or pay for abortions or refuse to offer abortion counseling or referrals.
Current federal law, aimed at protecting Roman Catholic doctors, provides
such "conscience protection'' to doctors who do not want to undergo abortion
training. The new language would expand that protection to all health care
providers, including hospitals, doctors, clinics and insurers.
"It's something we've had a longstanding interest in," said Douglas Johnson,
a spokesman for the National Right to Life Committee. He added, "This is in
response to an orchestrated campaign by pro-abortion groups across the
country to use government agencies to coerce health care providers to
participate in abortions."
The provision could affect millions of American women, according to Senator
Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, who warned Friday that she would use
procedural tactics to slow Senate business to a crawl if the language was
not altered.
"I am willing to stand on my feet and slow this thing down," Ms. Boxer said.
"Everyone wants to go home, I know that, and I know I will not win a
popularity contest in the Senate. But they should not be doing this. On a
huge spending bill they're writing law, and they're taking away rights from
women."
Ms. Boxer said that she complained to Senator Ted Stevens, the Alaska
Republican who is the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, but that he
told her that House Republican leaders insisted that the provision, which
was approved by the House in July but never came to the Senate for a vote,
be included in the measure.
"He said, 'Senator, they want it in, and it's going in,' " Ms. Boxer
recalled.
A spokeswoman for Mr. Stevens, Melanie Alvord, said on Friday that her boss
would have no comment on the spending bill because House and Senate
negotiators had not settled on the final language.
Some lawmakers and Congressional aides interpreted the House leaders'
insistence as reflection of the new political strength of the anti-abortion
movement and of Christian conservatives, who played an important role in
re-electing Mr. Bush this month.
"They are catering to their right wing doing this," said Senator Tom Harkin,
Democrat of Iowa. "It doesn't make it right. I think this is the first
step."
Mr. Harkin said he intended to try to force a vote next year on support for
upholding the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which legalized abortion.
"I think it is time the women of America understand what is happening here,"
he said.
The spending measure, called an omnibus bill, was the main reason Congress
returned to Washington after the election, and members of both parties say
that despite Ms. Boxer's warnings, it is likely to pass with the abortion
language intact.
The alternative is to let government funding for a wide array of agencies -
like the F.B.I., the National Park Service and the Environmental Protection
Agency - run out, in effect causing a partial government shutdown.
Lawmakers in the House and the Senate intended to vote on the omnibus bill
on Saturday, when a stopgap spending measure is set to expire at midnight.
Congress failed to pass 9 of its 13 required spending bills before its
election recess, leaving much of the government - with the exception of the
Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security - to operate under the
interim measure.
The 11th-hour controversy over the abortion language capped a long and
chaotic day Friday. In the House, the ethics committee ruled that a
Democratic lawmaker had brought exaggerated charges against Representative
Tom DeLay of Texas, the majority leader, a finding that provoked another
round of bitter recriminations between Republicans and Democrats.
In the Senate, the Democratic leader, Tom Daschle of South Dakota, who lost
his re-election bid, delivered a poignant farewell speech that brought him a
standing ovation.
"It's had its challenges, its triumphs, its disappointments," Mr. Daschle
said of his 26-year career in Congress, which included a decade as the
Democratic leader. "But everything was worth doing."
Mr. Daschle is the first Senate party leader in more than half a century to
lose a re-election campaign. His emotional talk, in which he also urged his
colleagues to find "common ground," was attended by nearly all of the
Senate's Democrats, who gathered him in their arms and hugged him afterward.
But only a few Republicans showed up, and Senator Bill Frist, the majority
leader, who broke with Senate tradition to campaign against Mr. Daschle in
his home state, South Dakota, did not appear until after Mr. Daschle
finished speaking. The scant Republican showing provoked Senator Frank R.
Lautenberg, Democrat of New Jersey, to speak out. "I don't know why, why in
the closing days, some element of comity, some element of grace, some
element of respect for a human being, could not have gotten some of our
friends out of their offices," Mr. Lautenberg said.
Outside the Senate chamber, the common ground Mr. Daschle spoke of seemed
hard to find. House and Senate negotiators were still trying to salvage a
reorganization of the nation's intelligence agencies. And Ms. Boxer was
trying to negotiate changes to the abortion language, she said, with little
success.
Louise Melling, director of the Reproductive Freedom Project at the American
Civil Liberties Union, which has opposed the provision, said it would
effectively strip states of their right to "enforce laws that were designed
to protect women's health."
For instance, she said, there are four states - Hawaii, Maryland, New York
and Washington - that pay for some abortions for low-income women through
their Medicaid programs. Under the language included in the omnibus bill,
hospitals would not have to comply with those requirements.
On Friday, nine female senators - eight Democrats and one Republican,
Olympia J. Snowe of Maine - wrote a letter to Senator Stevens asking that
the language be changed and complaining that it had not gone through
committee or to the Senate floor for a vote.
Ms. Snowe called the language "a bad provision" that would "adversely affect
reproductive health access for women across the country." She added, "It is
an ill-advised policy that is clearly harmful to women."
The bill generally holds spending to the level sought by the White House.
The huge measure also contains scores of home-state projects sought by
lawmakers.
G-d speaks to bushie...  and vice versa, so guess we should re-write the 23rd Psalm accordingly:  (ya'll didn't think i even knew about the 23rd Psalm, did you, agnostic ole heifer that i am ??? surprize)
Bush is my shepherd; I dwell in want.
He maketh logs to be cut down in national forests.
He leadeth trucks into the still wilderness.
He restoreth my fears.
He leadeth me in the paths of international disgrace for his ego's
sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of pollution and war,
I will find no exit, for thou art in office.
Thy tax cuts for the rich and thy media control, they discomfort me.
Thou preparest an agenda of deception in the presence of thy
religion.
Thou anointest my head with foreign oil.
My health insurance runneth out.
Surely megalomania and false patriotism shall follow me all the days
of thy term,
And my jobless child shall dwell in my basement forever.
Ya'll take care now, not to be exposed if at all possible -- yuh hear... ?
 Warning from the CDC
"The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of sexually transmitted disease.  This disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior.  The disease is called Gonorrhea lecthim (pronounced "gonna re-elect him").
Many victims have contracted it after having been screwed by the Bush-Cheney-Rove-Ashcroft administration for the past 4 years and failing to have taken adequate measures to protect themselves.
Cognitive sequellae of individuals infected with Gonorrhea lecthim include: Antisocial personality disorder traits; delusions of grandeur with a messianic flavor; cognitive perseveration; inability to incorporate new information into a rigid idée fixee; xenophobia; inability to accept responsibility for actions; and a strong propensity for categorical, all-or-nothing thinking."
SORE, sore-ass losers...  (sure, you can count me amongst them -- and i promise i'll quit beating this now long-dead horse).  But article below too good not to share...
Unusual Results??
What I'm about to tell you is going to be hard to swallow at first.  But if you're like most of us, once you start looking at the evidence, you'll scrape yourself off the ceiling, put your eyeballs back in their sockets, and you'll try to figure out what to do.
So here it is.
The highest crime in the history of our country took place on November 2nd.  The evidence is now mounting (into a HUGE mountain) that the election was stolen.  There is already a congressional investigation underway and a consumer investigation (headed by Ralph Nader).
Electronic voting machines that were manufactured by supporters of the Republican Party were used to alter the will of the people.
The internet message boards and chat rooms are bursting with talk about this. You can wait another couple days to hear about it in the mainstream media, or you can read on.  Just remember where you heard it first.
I will outline the key points in this email and provide a link with much more information at the bottom. More information is coming out literally by the minute.
The election was stolen with not just one tactic, but with several.
KEY POINTS:
1)   "Black Box" Electronic Voting Machines: The key to it all was the use of electronic voting machines, that produce no paper trail. These were manufactured mainly by the two companies ESS and Diebold. Both of these companies are big supporters of the Republican Party. Walden O'Dell, the owner of Diebold, said in a 2003 fundraising letter that he is "committed to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year." Similarly, Chuck Hagel, the owner of ESS used his own machines to get elected to the United States Senate in Nebraska. A bill was introduced in the House and Senate to outlaw these machines and require a paper printout of each vote so that they could be verified and/or recounted. The bill was stalled by the Republican Party, led by Senate Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and it was not allowed to come to vote. Shortly after the November 2rd election, countless stories of problems with the machines began to surface. Many people tried to vote for Kerry and said that when the final confirmation screen came up it said they voted for Bush. In one precinct in Ohio, 4,258 votes were given to Bush where there were only 638 registered voters. Many more stories about the black box voting machines, their problems, and the investigation into their tampering are circulating. Blackboxvoting.org <
http://blackboxvoting.org >  is leading the way in the investigation to proving the results were tampered with.
2)      Exit Polls: Exit polls were taken in every state. In those states that had verifiable paper trails for their ballots, the exit polls were virtually the same as the real results. However, in the states where electronic voting machines were used, the exit polls were mysteriously very different from the final reported totals. You can view the exit poll data directly yourself with the link at the bottom of this email
3)      Unusual Results: In the areas where computers were used to cast votes or tally them, some very strange results have surfaced. Here is just one example. In Baker County, Florida, there are 12,887 registered voters, 69.3% of them regsitered Democrats and 24.3% of them Republicans. The vote was only 2,180 for Kerry and 7,738 for Bush. Are we supposed to believe that 5 out of every 7 registered Democrats voted for Bush??? This pattern repeats itself in many Florida counties. You can view all the raw data for every Florida county at the link at the bottom of this email
4)  Shenanigans: In addition to the electronic voting machines, there was widespread voter intimidation and disenfranchisement on election day. In many democratic areas, people waited hours to vote, while Republicans "challenged" voters' rights to vote, forcing them to fill out a provisional ballot instead of a real ballot. The provisional ballots were not counted on election day and we may never know how many of them there were, or what rules will be used to qualify them. Flyers were sent to democratic areas with an array of false information on them. People were told their voting precinct had changed, that their voter registration was not valid, or that they would go to jail of they tried to vote. The list of shenanigans goes on and on.  You can see the some of the flyers that were sent out and read about more of the shenanigans at the link at the bottom of this email.
5)  Investigations: This is not conspiracy theory.  This is not heresay.  There is evidence.  There are witnesses. There are investigations underway.  Three Congressmen have sent a letter to the General Accountability Office requesting urgent action and an investigation. Ralph Nader is leading a consumer investigation into voter fraud countrywide, and has already filed an official challenge to the voting results in New Hampshire.  You can read the letter to the GAO and more about Nader's efforts at the link below.
They will call us sore losers.  They will have their lawyers and computer experts, too.  They will refute the evidence.  But the truth is on our side and we will prevail.
Here is the link to the information, if you would like to look into the details and become more aware of the biggest story about to break.
What we need now is for the information to get out to more people.  The mainstream media will bury this until it's shoved down their throat.  So please forward this email to your friends and family.  If every person tells three other people, everyone will know before the media decides to wake up.
Peace,
Is there a 'brain' in my brain, or a 'puter' chip in my onboard 'puter (i.e. my brain)???  Bushie was wired for the debates, now the rats are all leaving the ship (of state), the Ohio AND Florida vote count was hijacked and now we can have cyborgs on campus.  Is this a great country or WHAT???
R E A D I N G, England — When Kevin Warwick enters his office building on the campus of Reading University, strange things happen.
     Lights turn on. Doors open. The building says, “Hello Professor Warwick.”
     The structure knows Warwick because of the electrical fuse-sized “smart card” implanted in his left arm. In England,
he’s been dubbed “The Cyborg Man,” the first person known to have a microchip implanted in his body for communication with outside machines.
     “Many scientists have suggested the possibility of humans and silicon chips coming together, but as yet, nobody has really done it,” Warwick says. “This is really the first step, establishing the communication link from computer to human—inside the human body.”
     On Aug. 24 Warwick, a cybernetics professor, had doctors surgically implant the 3mm-wide, 23mm-long chip above his elbow for a 10-day trial.
     It allows cyber-communication between the living and the inanimate.
Is Isreal really our 51st state??  The Cost of Israel to the American People by Richard Curtiss
By now many Americans are aware that Israel, with a population of only 5.8 million people, is the largest recipient of U.S. foreign aid, and that Israel’s aid plus U.S. aid to Egypt’s 65 million people for keeping the peace with Israel has, for many years, consumed more than half of the U.S. bi-lateral foreign aid budget world-wide.
What few Americans understand however, is the steep price they pay in many other fields for the U.S.-Israeli relationship, which in turn is a product of the influence of Israel’s powerful U.S. lobby on American domestic politics and has nothing to do with U.S. strategic interests, U.S. national interests, or even with traditional American support.   from:   http://www.marwenmedia.com/articles_images/CostofIsrael.html
Now anyone who has read this blog over the months KNOWS that i'm spiritual, pretty agnostic, and student of spiritual studies, pro-growth in this 'unseen' area of beingness -- but IF i was gonna take up 'religion', i'd convert to Judaism -- it really does seem like the bedrock of such spiritual stuff -- besides, i love klezmer music, good beet borsche and the fellowship at the Jewish community center.  But those who run things, both in the U.S. and in Israel, need to get a grip on their politics, practice compassion and get over the holocost ~!
There are two maps on this page.
The one at the top should be familiar. It's one of those red-state/blue-state maps that have been tormenting Democrats, liberals, and progressives since November of 2000. Over the 36 days that George W. Bush and Al Gore fought for the White House in Florida, "red" and "blue" became metaphors for America's divided electorate. Red vs. Blue--Democrat vs. Republican; liberal vs. conservative; pro-life vs. pro-choice; gun-huggers vs. gun-haters; gay-huggers vs. gay-haters.  read the entire article at:  http://www.thestranger.com/current/feature.html
This is a really nifty site, new to me, with lots of interesting, well written articles / essays on 'life in amerika' ~!  enjoy
And who said Iraq would not be another VietNam???  Clue: he never went there, going insted into the "Texas Air National guard".  Nuther clue:  He often goes by just the initial, "W".
The battle for Falluja has exposed not only the fallacy of the US military strategy towards confronting the resistance in Iraq, but also the emptiness of the interim government of Iyad Allawi, which is so far incapable of building anything that resembles a viable Iraqi military capable of securing its position in Iraq void of American military support.
Falluja is probably the beginning of a very long and bloody phase of the Iraq war, one that pits an American military under orders from a rejuvenated Bush administration to achieve victory at any cost against an Iraqi resistance that is willing to allow Iraq to sink into a quagmire of death and destruction in order to bog down and eventually expel the American occupier.
It is a war the United States cannot win, and which the government of Iyad Allawi cannot survive. Unfortunately, since recent polls show that some 70% of the American people support the war in Iraq, it is a war that will rage until the American domestic political dynamic changes, and the tide of public opinion turns against the war.
Tragically, this means many more years of conflict in Iraq that will result in thousands more killed on both sides, and incomprehensible suffering for the people of Iraq, and unpredictable instability for the entire Middle East.
